The PBMG Update provides information on news and features added to the Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Medicines Guide (PBMG).

May 2019

A new patient medicine fact sheet levetiracetam has been added.

A new medicine profile - sacubitril with valsartan has been added to the medicine library.

The Antiepileptic and Antifungal therapeutic groups have been reviewed and updated to reflect current recommendations in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

One hundred and fifteen (115) medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated, including anti-infective, psychotropic, respiratory and gastrointestinal medicines.

 

March 2019

A new patient medicine fact sheet chlorpromazine has been added.

Two medicine fact sheets have been reviewed: diazepam and mirtazapine.

Medicines for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) therapeutic group has been added to the website.

The Antihistamines therapeutic group has been reviewed and updated to reflect current recommendations in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Sixty-three medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated, including anti-infective and psychotropic medicines.

 

January 2019

A new medicine profile - tolvaptan has been added to the medicine library.

A CAM monograph - black cohosh has been added to provide evidence-based pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information.

A new patient medicine fact sheet - clomipramine has been added.

All 103 medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated.

 

November 2018

A new medicine profile - evolocumab has been added to the medicine library.

A CAM monograph – fenugreek has been added to provide evidence-based pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information.

A new patient information fact sheet - droperidol has been added.

All fifty-seven neurological medicine profiles been reviewed and updated.

 

August 2018

Two new medicine profiles, daclatasvir and dolutegravir have been added to the medicine library.

A CAM monograph – echinacea has been added to provide evidence-based pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information.

All fifteen allergy and anaphylaxis medicine profiles, nine antidote medicine profiles and fourteen diagnostic imaging contrasts have been reviewed and updated

Seven patient information fact sheets, citalopram, desvenlafaxine, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, sertraline and venlafaxine have been revised.

 

June 2018

A new therapeutic group: Anthelmintics has been added. This aims to provide general advice about treatment of worms during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Three new medicine profiles have been added to the medicine library, including brexpiprazole, milnacipran and suvorexant.

Two new patient fact sheets, asenapine and moclobemide have been added.

A CAM monograph – aloe vera has been added online to provide evidence-based pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information.

All 125 medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated to provide the latest information and recommendations for use in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The Therapeutic Goods Adminsitration (TGA) pregnancy categories and manufacturer’s product information are sometimes difficult to interpret. The Women’s PBMG has developed a series of practical recommendations for medicines used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
