The Monthly Updates aims to provide useful information about new, current and upcoming features of the Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Medicines Guide (PBMG).

October 2017

A new therapeutic group: Medicines for urinary incontinence has been added to the website. This aims to provide general advice about medicine use for urinary incontinence during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

A cranberry CAM monograph has been added online to provide evidence-based pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information.

All 40 blood and electrolyte medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated to provide the latest information and recommendations for use in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Two new medicine monographs, clevidipine and macitentan have been added online.

 

August 2017

Two new medicine fact sheets, clozapine and imipramine have been added to the website.

A ginger CAM monograph has been added online to provide evidence-based pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information.

All 65 psychotropic medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated to provide the latest information and recommendations for use in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Two new medicine monographs, ingenol mebutate and secukinumab have been added online.

 

July 2017

A new therapeutic group: Complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) used in pregnancy and breastfeeding has been added to the website. This aims to provide general advice on the use of CAM in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

A St John’s wort CAM monograph has been added online to provide evidence-based pregnancy and breastfeeding safety information.

An apremilast medicine monograph, a medicine used for the treatment of active psoriatic arthritis has been added online.

All 51 gastrointestinal medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated to provide the latest information and recommendations for use in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

 

June 2017

Three new medicine profiles clobetasol, povidone iodine and wood tars have been added online.

A new therapeutic group: Medicines for the treatment of head lice has been added to the website. This aims to provide general advice on the use of targeted agents in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

All 29 obstetric and gynaecological and 29 respiratory medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated to provide the latest information and recommendations for use in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

 

May 2017

Four new medicine profiles ofatumumab, pembrolizumab, pomalidomide and vandetanib have been added online.

Dosulepin (dothiepin) and doxepin, medicine fact sheets have been added to the medicine profiles. All fact sheets aim to complement verbal counselling by health care professionals.

All 60 endocrine medicine profiles have been reviewed and updated to provide the latest information and recommendations for use in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

 

April 2017

Three new medicine profiles brentuximab vedotinenzalutamide and eribulin have been added online.

A new therapeutic group: Non-cytotoxic antineoplastics - Targeted agents has been added to the website. This aims to provide general advice on the use of targeted agents in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

All 16 allergy and anaphylaxis medicine profiles, 9 antidote medicine profiles and 18 diagnostic imaging contrast media profiles have been reviewed and updated to provide the latest information and recommendations for use in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The Therapeutic Goods Adminsitration (TGA) pregnancy categories and manufacturer’s product information are sometimes difficult to interpret. The Women’s PBMG has developed a series of practical recommendations for medicines used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
